today my best-laid plans for a weekend away fell through & then a perfect plan b came into play. out of the blue, my big brother with his kids and, later on, my sister showed up. we didn’t intend to, but we ended up playing old family films to my nieces and nephew, including my mum & dad’s wedding day. afterwards, i realised it’s my mum’s anniversary today & i couldn’t think of a better way to spend it than hanging out with my family & showing footage of “Granny Hazel” to the little ones. and i suddenly felt so much better about how much money i lost on the train tickets i couldn’t use this morning & having to cancel my weekend adventures.
